Detective LaSalle: Notes on Henry Leroy Lewis Part II
Notes on Case #7757821L Continued harassment and potential stalking of Henry Leroy Lewis and family after the assault on his wife Amber.
See previous notes for case history to date.
On 09//08/2021 The Lewis family dog went missing from their home. The four year old terrier was in their fenced-in backyard where it spent a good majority of its time. The fence was locked from the inside and did not appear tampered with, nor were there any obvious signs of how the dog left the fence. Mr. Lewis was convinced it was related to his wife's attack and his defense of her. I was not sure at first as I have found no evidence to link any of the known assailants injured by Mr. Lewis to any known criminal organization or family members that might be looking for revenge.
Amber Lewis and their two children Deanna (f age 8) and Christopher (m age 5) went to visit her mother in St. Louis over the weekend of September 17-19. Mr. Lewis plays on a rec league rugby team, so he did not join them for the trip. ( personal note, I played rugby in college and I cannot imagine coming up against this guy in a scrum, or trying to tackle him. )
He returned home the afternoon of the 18th after his match and found a large Amazon box on his porch, he was not expecting a delivery but said his wife will often order items without mentioning it and it did not seem unusual. He brought the box in and went about his day. He said that he showered and had a light dinner then called his wife to check in on her and see how her visit was going and say hi to the kids. During the course of their phone call he mentioned the package and asked if he should leave it upstairs or take it out to her workshop. Mrs. Lewis makes custom furniture and has a work shop in the back of the home. She told him she was not expecting any shipments or packages and asked him to read the shipping label. When he examined the shipping label he found it was not a standard Amazon Shipping label, but was handwritten on a piece of notebook paper. It was also not addressed to his wife. The name on the address was a childhood nickname of his. According to his statement, there is no one living who would know him by this name or has ever referred to him as such. It was a name he was called by his older brother who passed away in a drowning accident when he was 12 years old. He has never mentioned the nickname to anyone, including his wife.
Mr. Lewis immediately opened the box and found a large leather bound photo album, he opened the album and on the first page was a picture of his wife in their bed asleep, pink collar was seen laying on top of her sheet. The collar he claims belonged to their family dog. On the following two pages were almost identical pictures of his children in their beds with the collar.
On the fourth page was a handwritten note that said “See you when I get back from Ol' St. Louie.”
Mr. Lewis immediately contacted me and I sent a patrol car there to sit with him and secure evidence until I could arrive. Mr. Lewis has a doorbell camera but the part of his porch where packages are normally left isn't visible. He claims he has been meaning to buy a secondary camera but they live on the end of a quiet cul de sac and security has never been an issue for them.
All evidence is being processed and so far the only fingerprints are unreadable smudges and a couple of clear prints from Mr. Lewis.
St. Louis County Police have been notified of the situation and potential threat to Mrs. Lewis and their children. They are returning a day later than planned and by a different route than they would normally take, just to be cautious.
We will continue to monitor the situation but unless evidence points to someone there is not a whole lot we can do at this point but wait.
Mr. Lewis is investing in an alarm system for the house and stepping up his security in general.
It is clear now that there is some kind of direct threat to the Lewis family, I am just not entirely convinced it is related to the incident at the gas station.
